Founding Father Jack Harlow Honored at the 2015 Be More Awards
On Tuesday, April 28th, Founding Father and 43 year board member Jack Harlow received the "Be More Dedicated" for his life-long dedication to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana. Jack exemplifies everything that Big Brothers Big Sisters stands for. Without Jack, we would not have been able to serve more than 11,000 local children in the last 43 years.
2014 was a year of many opportunities, accomplishments and changes for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana. We were able to impact 310 local children and break our Bowl for Kids' Sake goal for the first time in 6 years. Thank you all so much for making 2014 a year of success!
BBBSSCI set their sights high with a $150,000 goal for this year's Bowl for Kids' Sake Superheroes. After 7 months of planning and executing the campaign we are proud to announce that the goal has been broken thanks to all of our dedicated volunteers, board, staff, and donors! We're off to match or maintain 163 life-changing relationships!
Every year Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana chooses 2-5 individuals that truly embody what it means to be a Big Brother or Big Sister. This year we have chosen 4 Bigs to represent the hard work and dedication that all 165 of our Bigs put in to their match relationships. We are proud to have these individuals represent our agency and the positive outcomes that are generated from BBBS' mentoring programs.
The Bloomington Parks and Rec Department has created a great opportunity for children and adults of all ages. Each Sunday from 3-5 PM The Crestmont Community Center hosts guests of all ages and skill levels to learn and play the game of chess. All boards and pieces are provided, just bring your questions and eagerness to learn!
